I love that Jesus shows us His humanity. It is sometimes hard to think of this great God who changed the cosmos, who reconciled the world to Himself, who changed darkenss to light, who gave us the major historical answer to the death question (the risen Christ) and whose story is the central reality in history, was also a man.
"He was going to lose his father - and that, Jesus knew, would break his heart in two. Violent sobs shook Jesus' whole body. Then Jesus was quiet. Like a lamb. "I trust you, Papa." he said." His heart broke, he cried, he called out to God...I find great comfort in this, dear friends, becuase this great God has experienced what we all experience at times in our lives. He understands. He gets it.
"Papa?" Jesus cried, frantically searching the sky. "Papa? Where are you?.....My God, my God, why...?" Even Jesus asked questions.
The disciples are very honest in their thinking and feeling as well. Their question of, "What had gone wrong?" is completely legit. How honest, how raw, how genuine.
I am so thankful that the Bible shows us this side of Jesus too. It makes me love Him even more.
