A good friend shared this quote with me once and it's really stuck with me:
Many resist the blessing of the Lord because they don't want to be selfish, but is His blessing upon His people that turns the hearts of the unbeliever to Christ.
I have such a hard time remembering that truth! His blessing feels "too good" to be true, and I just feel too unworthy. But the reality that the celebration devotional really drove home is that that's not cause to shy away from His blessing - it's just cause for even MORE celebration!
It's so easy to get too serious about our faith - to get bogged down in rituals and resolutions - but when we come back to what's really true and central to what we believe, how could we not celebrate?
What I love so much about that quote is the reminder that it's not theological arguments or even a spotlessly sinless life that turns people to Christ - it's the fact that we know the grace and love that's been given to us, and we're stoked about it!
You in the most beautiful and holy way are a living sacrifice, being reborn into the most magnificent of all created things - a child in the very image of God.
I'm so looking forward to practicing the discipline of celebration together this summer as we celebrate the beautiful work that God will be doing in campers' lives and in each one of your lives!
