Submission.
It’s not about me.
This is His story.
After doing the devotional about submission, besides
Philippians 2:7 which was quoted, I am reminded of 1 Corinthians 4 and 2
Corinthians 6 which give descriptions of what a servant of God looks like. Some descriptions of what it means to be a
follower of Christ that stem from these passages include: on display,
condemned, a spectacle, fools, weak, dishonored, hungry, thirsty, in rags,
brutally treated, homeless, work hard, cursed, persecuted, slandered, scum,
refuse of the world, sleepless nights, regarded as imposters, unknown, dying, beaten, sorrowful, poor,
having nothing.
When did I ever get the idea think that this journey would
be easy, care-free, and perfect? But the
thing is, is that along with all of those struggles and sufferings, we are
glorifying Christ and possessing everything we could ever possibly need because
we have Him!! We are called to rejoice and “in purity,
understanding, patience, and kindness, live on in the Holy Spirit and in
sincere love.” A follower of Christ is
supposed to lead selflessly, trusting the Lord to provide and take care of
us.
Being a leader means being a servant. As we learn to live as servants, we are
slowly becoming closer to being more like Christ. Through submitting to Him, we can truly live
freely. In order to live, we must die to
ourselves and begin to deeply breathe His living water.
Thank you, Jesus, for
being the ultimate example of this. I
pray that I would continue to learn what it really means to submit to You, and
to others.
