STUDY :)

Hi Everyone! Hope your weeks are off to a good start! Only a little over a month until I get to see you all :) This week is going to be pretty stressful with finals only a week away :/

This topic couldn't have come at a better time. Just like Jackie, I thought it was pretty ironic that the topic was study while I have been crazily studying this week for my finals. It was a nice to take a break and focus on this devotional. This reading was a real eye opener for me. I never though of "studying" as anything else but for school work and such. It made me realize that its not all about school and books but its what you focus your mind upon.
We may go through the day studying all the wrong kinds of materialistic things while we should be focusing on God.
One section that really stood out to me was the beginning where it says "They may sing with gusto, pray in the Spirit, live as obediently as they know, even receive divine visions and revelations, and yet the tenor of their lives remains unchanged. Wh? Because they have never taken up one of the central ways God uses to change us: study." This really opened my eyes because I never thought of "study" as the final piece of the puzzle. To be fully changed by God we must have knowledge. We wont be free until then.

The verse that stuck out to me was Philippians 4:8. Which was repeated throughout the reading. To me it is a reminder as to what we should be studying and setting our minds upon. Not letting ourselves get distracted and focusing on things that can lead us away from God.

I also enjoyed the verses Psalm 62:1-2. To me it shows that when we do chose to study God and be changed by him, we are given strength and endurance. In times of need we should "study" God.

This weeks devotional was definitely needed with all of my final craziness!

God bless you all! Soon we will be reunited at the Delta!

-Whit :)
