Hi Everybody,
I found that the idea from the devotional, "solitude is really a trust issue", rang true with me. Very often, I don't seek solitude becuase I don't trust God to show up (and partly because I don't "want to hear the words of Jesus!") I think I'll try it some this week and see what happens. What do you guys do when practicing the discipline of solitude; read the Bible, sit quietly, pray...? Is solitude (in the Christian sense) one of those specifically, or does it just generally mean spending time alone with God?
Arrivederci!
Gwen
One thing I really like to do is write letters to God, write my prayers out. I do this because for me when I write I like to focus on what I'm writing so then I can focus on my time with God. Sometimes I'll even listen to worship music while I do it because I feel like God really speaks to me through it and through the lyrics.
ReplyDeletei think solitude simply refers to spending time alone with God - sitting quietly while praying or going some place quiet to read the Bible are both great as well; as long as you can sit back, open your heart to God, and allow the Holy Spirit to work within you; there's an awesome peace of mind when you know and let God be in control
ReplyDelete^ i like what sydnie wrote up there as well; i write my prayers out sometimes, too (to present myself clearly to God)
