Meditation
For me in the past week of ups and downs I found that this topic of meditation was key. The times where I sat down and truly listened to what God was telling me where the times when everything seemed to be going good, and the times where I didn't take time for him were the times of trouble. I think the first thing for me is to remember that I'm not here to come up with my own theories, plans, and revelations but to hear and feel what God is putting on my heart or showing me. Then once in that place of acknowledging his power and wisdom, we can really start to grow as he fills us up with the holy spirit. Along with the benefit of growing closer to the one and only God of everything ever, through calming down and focusing on him our entire mindset becomes much more relaxed like when the packet references the psalmist talking about lying down in green pastures. I see that as such a good model for what God wants us to do, just sit down without any distractions, and fellowship with Him.
Alex, your post really resonated with my heart. I often approach my time with the Lord the same way. I sit searching for the the truth on my own instead of listening for the Lords voice. Meditation is a new & meaningful way to get us focused on just that. It's encouraging that we are traveling through this realization together! Thanks!
