I was deeply moved and humbled the Holy Week devotional and the Good Friday service at my church last night. One thing that hit me hard yesterday, as I read the devotional and then went to church, was the fact that I had never really poured myself into understanding the story of the resurrection. In the past, I had just settled for a general overview of the Easter story and Passover. The story of the resurrection really came alive to me this year. It was the first time I really took the time to read scripture and meditate on it and understand the meaning of Jesus BEING the unblemished lamb for all of us, like unblemished lambs that were sacrificed at the first Passover (in Exodus 12). It is one thing for God to save us, another thing for God to provide the sacrifice that will save us, and, yet, the most amazing thing is that GOD BECAME THE SACRIFICE FOR US. What an amazing God we serve!!!
I love this sentence: "It is one thing for God to save us, another thing for God to provide the sacrifice that will save us, and, yet, the most amazing thing is that GOD BECAME THE SACRIFICE FOR US."
