Giving God our full, undivided attention- Solitude
As I began reading this week's entry on solitude I had a music video of one of my favorite artists playing on youtube as background noise. I found myself having to turn down the music and place my laptop farther from myself and yet still having to reread the first few sentences over and over again. It was about the fourth time that I read, "Silence is there within us. What we have to do is enter into it, to become silent to experience the solitude" that it hit me. In order to connect fully with Jesus, we cannot have "background noise", He needs our full and undivided attention. Simply closing our bedroom door to the outside world and turning off your phone isn't enough, those things that we leave in the background will ultimately cause us to falter. So often I find myself surrounded by the loud hustle and bustle of life only to find out that the things I am filling my life with have left no space to God to speak to me.
