First off, thank you to everyone who made that weekend possible! Being poured into like that was amazing. Can't imagine what the camp will be like. =D haha! can't wait!!!
So here are my thoughts. All of the things that caught me.
I loved how music makes you out of yourself and this is how prayer should be with your body and your inward senses. That the result is your body singing a song. This is a powerful image that inspires me to pray more intesely and connected to God.
The concept of having your mind on God at all times. To be praying constantly. Not meaning "dear Jesus" all of the time but having a mind that is Christ centered and constantly thinking about how to be more like Jesus and show His love. What a blessing!
How if we cannot give anymore of ourselves to a person, then we pray. Meaning that we love them beyond what we can do for them. WOW!
Expiriencing God by shutting myself up. Something that I realized just a couple of days ago is that life gets simpler and simpler the more we grow with Jesus. Because as we grow the more we become to understand that WE DON'T DO ANYTHING. It is by God and because of God that we do and can do anything. All we have to do is raise up our hands. He does the rest.
"For I seek not to please myself but Him who sent me." Jesus said this. WOW! That this should be what we say and Jesus says the same thing. He is modeling for us how to be. Jesus says also during when He rises up into the sky that we are to do even greater things than He. How powerful that we can expect to do greater than rising people from the dead. We'll see what God has in store this summer. "Bring it on God =D We're ready." This is my prayer for us.
Psalm 139 talks of how God is everywhere. But, it is sad that we often fail to see Him everywhere. This is the constant prayer that Paul talks about.
No one knows the wisdom of the Lord but we often pretend to. At my school we did an applied theology chapel on the Wisdom of God and the foolishness of the Lord is wiser than man's greatest wisdom. God's "foolishness" would seem to be Jesus dying on a cross. But, we cannot understand this. I love to see human wisdom fail. Such as, in science, how often we are proving ourselves wrong and reformulating theories. Just like how scientists creation theory has changed so much yet the Bible has had it right all along.
I pray that my mouth reveals the mystery of the gospel. And my purpose be to befriend-encourage-model-challenge. =D
Remain in HIM and fruit will come. This promise encourages me.
John 14:6 Thomas asks Jesus, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus answered, "I am the way..."
I love this! haha! Thomas is like where are we going and Jesus slams down the gospel! "Thomas I am the way!" Jesus takes the opportunity to show them something more than directions. He is saying that as long as you remain in me then you will be going the correct way.
I to hear and read about being persecuted and how it is for the blessed. This massively encourages me to be all in for Jesus. This I pray, "make me a fool for you Jesus."
I am excited to be reading your guys' responses!
-Kevin =)
i love "remain in Him and fruit will come" and john 14:6!!
ReplyDeleteand i love B-E-M-C!!! woohoo!
Kevin, thanks for sharing all that! I cannot encourage you and everyone enough that the more you meditate and write on the things of God we discover that He uses it to grow us in Him. Just the discipline of reading and writing God uses for His glory in and through us! Keep up the good work friend!
ReplyDeleteKevin, what spoke to me was when you talked about how the closer we get to Jesus the simpler life becomes to us. I loved this truth. The more we know Jesus, the simpler life becomes because we realize all we need is Him. Your post really encouraged me and reminded me that the reality of life will always be Jesus! As we grow closer to Jesus, we realize he is everything! Thanks for the post!

ReplyDeleteThis is where you will hear the admin teams talking about "if we were just to be quiet and serve, kids would meet Jesus." Such an encouragement not only to think about how little he NEEDS us and how much he WANTS us!
Following Jesus is SO SIMPLE but it is not easy man! Keep sacrificing and praying. Thanks for the encouragement and sharing your heart!....
HAHAHA STEF I just read your reply to Kevin's post! NICE!
Love acts 17:25- "and he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else."
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement all of you! =) I find it amazing the time and care you each took in responding to my thoughts.
