It was so nice to meet you all last weekend! This blog is not only getting me excited for the summer, but for all that God is doing now. Can you feel it?
I read this passage and verse last night from our Staff Devotional and knew when I read them that they would be what I would blog about:
"When we don't know the way, what does Jesus say? 'I am the way.' He is our destination and prayer helps place us there."
John 14:6 "Thomas said to him, 'Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?' Jesus answered, 'I am the way...' "
And guess what today's sermon at church was about? This passage!! God, you so crazy!
There are many times throughout our lives when we cannot see or understand what God is doing. This is true for me. I don't know why He has brought certain trials and illnesses into my life or why I have not reached certain life "milestones" (i.e. marriage, kids). I often ask, "Lord, where are you in this?" I may have some guesses, and can try to do my best to logic my way into clarity, but the truth is that I don't really know, and I may never fully know. I feel a lot like Thomas saying, (praphrased) "Lord, I don't know where you are going. How will I know the way?"
Jesus' answer is so direct and so clear: "I am the way" ego eimi. He is telling all of us, "Hey, you do know the way. I am the path to my Father."
Quite simply: The way has a name, and that name is Jesus.
Thanks for your vulnerability Nina. Thanks too for your help at the retreat.
