this devotional is blowing my mind. for the past two weeks I've been really focusing on solitude and trying be disciplined in it because for me solitude is a huge struggle. reading this devotional was really rad though cause it was such an awesome reminder for me to continue to learn about solitude and what it is. i always thought of solitude as loneliness but after reading this devotional and diving into what solitude really is my world has been rocked! its crazy to think that you don't have to be silent to be in solitude rather we enter into it to experience solitude, and its in these moments when we get to experience Christ! so insane!
"one reason we can hardly bear to remain silent is that it makes us feel helpless. we are so accustomed to relying upon words to manage and control others. if we are silent, who will take control? God will take control, but we will never let Him take control until we trust Him. SILENCE IS INTIMATELY RELATED TO TRUST." (Foster). #truth, but seriously! these sentence really stuck out to me cause its so true! we seriously rely upon on words to control others and that they think. its like we care so much what others think about us we continue to talk and straighten out what other people think of us. BUT it shouldn't be like that we shouldn't be trying to control what other peoples understanding are but rather we should let God take control and trust in Him and what better way to form trust with God then taking alone time with him! the spirit of God dwells in our hearts why not allow ourselves to become silent enough to allow ourselves to emerge in solitude and grow closer to our heavenly father.
this weeks devotional has really encouraged me to continue to grow in the discipline of solitude to grow in my relationship with Christ. its like how can we hear or know God if we never allow ourselves to enter into solitude with Him.
hope you guys have an amazing week:)
