Submission and Solitude

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been able to post lately. It's just been a crazy two weeks with finals and moving back home :) Only a month until I see all you lovely people again!!

Submission:
I very much enjoyed the reading for this week. I especially loved the input from stef and tyler.
The first section that stood out greatly to me was the part where Foster made the suggestion about the "radical social teaching of Jesus" and the reversal of our definition of "greatness". We become leaders through being servants and how power comes from submission. It reminded me of our purpose as barneys and our part as servants. What I really enjoy about these weekly readings is that I always learn something new, and something fresh is always brought to my mind. The other section that stood out was where Stef pointed out the portion of Philippians 2. We were created submit ourselves and even though we may fail sometimes we should look to Christ as an example and should strive to never give up on submission.

Solitude:
I loved how the reading compared silence to solitude.  We don't have to create solitude to have silence. I never though of solitude as a discipline either. by having this discipline of solitude we can "speak the language of silence" it's very different way of thinking about it.
This silence is important because thats where we find the spirit within ourselves. However, just like the reading pointed out, its very difficult for so many of us to enter silence because we so often rely on words to manage our lives. by entering silence, it feels as though we have lost our grip on the steering wheel. But trust is deeply needed for this. God is taking the wheel.
The section that deeply stood out in this reading was where the questions "why do some of us hate to be alone?" and why do some of us prefer to be alone?" are asked. it caught me off guard when both questions had the same answer of "We don't want to hear the words of Jesus." Entering solitude with the purpose of hearing Jesus is where we gain insights. There is no purpose if we don't enter solitude just to escape people. My goal for these next few weeks is to find the time and trust in order to truly enter silence and solitude.

I hope everyone is having a great week!
Blessings,
Whit :)
