Talkin with God
The first thing that really got me thinking on this was the passage from psalms (#4) that talks about how no matter where we go God is there. Never can we flee from his all powerful presence. It talks about being high up near the heavens and low down in the depths, which to me says that no matter how crummy of a day or week you're having, God doesn't care that you don't feel like talking with him. He is going to pursue you all the more so that you may experience true joy in him. On the other side of that, no matter how happy and perfect life may feel we still need Christ in our life to help us keep up the joy and success in our lives. So in the end no matter where I am in life, I need prayer to keep me in check as well as to continue growing in relationship with my awesome personal God.
Second thing I thought was really awesome was the quote about how "Every breath on my lips and beat of my heart is a breath and beat of hope that I would practice His presence and be caught up in the mystery of who He is and what He's saying and doing". When I read this along with the exhaling and inhaling part, it makes not praying all the time sound like a crazy thing to do. By praying with God whether it be a request, praise, or repentance, we are in growth in relationship with Him. The application I take away from this is that prayer isn't just something to be done before meals and at night (or whenever you do it), but it's a mindset to be constantly living in. I know that if I spent an entire day in constant communication with God I would feel the Holy Spirit being built up inside me so much my heart would probably explode from too much love and joy!!!
Last big thing that I was really pondering when going over this was based on "He is not an observation for you to comprehend. He is the Revelation of grace that fully comprehends you." WOW I love it. Lately I've felt like I've had a slight problem in that I have been thinking of God as just that, God. Some entity who wants me to believe in Him and follow Him. Not that those things aren't true but when I stop there it's a problem. The truth is going beyond that and not looking for answers to who really is God? But instead realizing that he is life itself and so for us to be able to form that bond and loving relationship with Him as a teacher, father, brother, and so many more things is a miracle in itself. In the end it all boils down to really loving God and knowing that as we pray he is listening and setting works in motion that will bring us true joy in Him through his glorification. Wooo! God Always Wins!!

yes, God always wins!! i love what you say, "no matter how happy and perfect life may feel we still need Christ in our life to help us keep up the joy and success in our lives" - there's another quote that says, "no matter how good or bad a situation is, it will change"; but God doesn't! God will forever be loving, holy, sovereign, omnipresent, and everlasting!
ReplyDeletei also love that God will continue to pursue us even when we don't pursue Him - that reminds me of a Bible verse, 2 timothy 2:13 - "if we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself."
it's comforting to know that God is always there for us, no matter how disobedient we may be; thanks for the great post alex!

ReplyDeleteIt's amazing to me to think also that He not only loves ME [you] that much, but He loves EVERY person on this earth that much as well and gives that same grace so lavishly! CRAZY
