Hey Everyone!
I was just about to start this weeks devotional when my mood went way down. I have been struggling a bit with one of my classes this semester and found out that I will have to drop it just to keep my gpa normal. I'm not a quitter and finding out this information just put me in a horrible mood. I knew that God chose that moment to reveal this to me because doing this devotional right after definitely lifted my spirits.
Now enough doom and gloom! onto meditation!
The first thing that struck me during this devotional was the true meaning of "meditation" Though I hate to say it, I have always thought of meditation as "clearing your mind" and being still and quiet. but this devotional helped me realize that clearing your mind is only the first step. You must be ready to fill it with christs glory and words and be able to ponder it and let it affect every part of our being.
I loved the verses for this week!
The first one that stuck out was Psalm 23:1-3. Right now I am in a faith oriented rotational movement class also known as FORM. We go through scripture and do stretches for each one to help our bodies retain the message. I know that probably sounds really weird but I can explain it in person sometime and it will probably make more sense! A few weeks ago we went through Psalm 23 and even then these verses stuck out to me. I love the part "he refreshes my soul" While reading this I imagine my soul being filled with his grace and and presence. Its one of the many feelings I believe meditation could bring.
Another verse that stood out was John 7:37 "Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, 'Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them." I feel like this really embodies the act of meditation. Coming to christ and allowing yourself to be fully attentive, letting his words make you full and allowing them to penetrate all aspects of your life.
This weeks devotional was definitely needed. Hopefully meditating this week will help with my stresses.
Miss you guys!
