Encouraged fellow Warriors!

Thank you all who have posted so far! It has been so encouraging and challenging to read through your posts. I have no doubt of 2 things this summer: 1. God is going to show up in mighty MIGHTY ways, 2. Kids are going to meet Jesus this summer! Keep on BEMCing!

Working at Starbucks has given me a great appreciation for all things coffee and customer service. Often times people who pay with strictly coin change seem to be quickly flustered as they count and push coins across the counter to the register. Apologizing many times that it is all in change and they "don't normally do this," and "Sorry for holding up the line," my response is commonly, "I don't mind one bit, I could use some change in my drawer, " then I whisper, "I get paid by the hour :)"

Often times this is my posture when I "COME TO THE REGISTER OF JESUS," and pray and talk to him about all my "worthless junk/ coinage". I often see myself apologizing for how long this is taking and sometimes feel as though my prayer was not good enough, let alone good enough for a KING to hear!

"I think that's the 'bravery' involved with prayer that foster mentions. Courage comes into play when through prayer you discover that approaching christ through prayer has very little to do with mastering prayer techniques and everything to do with bearing witness to the greatness, sovereignty, wildness and mystery of Christ invading your world. " - Staff Devotional 2012 p. 4
Prayer is a lifestyle and is constant! I love Acts 17:28- "For in him we live and move and have our being." We are never apart from Him. PRAYER IS A LIFESTYLE!

God does not say, "gosh, [Andy] (<-insert your name here) you are paying with just COINS, could you hurry it up, and MAN now I have to count your coins to make sure your count was right... and now you want change back???"

Instead I think his reaction is more like, "Money is money, thanks so much for coming in today, I'll see you soon, enjoy your drink [life]"

Thanks Jesus for saying my life was worth your body broken, blood shed. And for giving us the opportunity and honor of coming before you, The Creator of the Cosmos, as you listen intently to our daily footsteps and prayers!

  1. this is awesome!! i love both acts 17 verses and the whole analogy about praying with coins!!

the register of JESUS - "gosh, andy, ..." <-- so much personality in that quote!

haha and that's hilarious you even changed the font size when you said "i get paid by the hour" - so cool

that italicized paragraph at the end is super powerful too!

  2. Andy, I enjoyed this comparison of our approaching Christ like people approach the register. I can super relate to that approach. I spend all this time apologizing for my "coinage", but forget I'm in the presence of Jesus. Thanks for reminding me and us what is more important, coming to Jesus regardless of our coinage & baggage! Thanks
