Meditations

This is the largest challenge God has ever put before me. I am a typical American teenager- packing my schedule end to end with social events, extracurriculars, and school work. This is all by choice, and I don't want to have to give any of it up. But when I am playing guitar, or at a rehearsal, or prepping for a bio lab, I know that that God should have the majority of my time. My mind needs to have time to rest, relax, and ruminate on His word and His mind. I can try to manage my schedule and do all of these things on my own, but without God's peace it is a huge struggle. Even as I read the devotional and as I am writing this, I can feel His peace and power in my life, ready to support me in all my endeavors. "He makes me lie down in green pastures," (psalm 23:2) but i am willing. I want to lie down and rest in His word, and this has to be the highest priority in my life.

  1. It's funny-- not funny haha, but funny hmmmm--that He desires us to make Him a priority in our schedule because it's about so much more than the time. He knows we need relationship with Him, and that sitting down with Him and few distractions is such a good way to live that out.

Also, as I read your post I couldn't help but sing in my head the Jon Foreman song "House of God Forever"

    "God is my shepherd
    I won't be wanting
    I won't be wanting
    He makes me rest
    In fields of green
    With quite streams
    Even though I walk
    Through the valley
    Of death and dying
    I will not fear
    'Cause you are with me
    You are with me

    Your shepherd staff
    Comforts me
    You are my feast
    In the presence of enemy
    Surely goodness
    Follow me
    Follow me
In the house of God, forever

    God is my shepherd
    I won't be wanting
    I won't be wanting
    He makes me rest
    In fields of green
    Like quiet streams
    Even while I'm walking
    Through the valley
    Of death and dying
    I will not fear
    'Cause you are with me
    You're always with me

    Your shepherd staff
    Comforts me
    You are my feast
    In the presence of enemy
    Surely goodness
    Follow me
    Follow me
In the house of God, forever"
